charities and not-for-profit organisations

overview

The charities group at FSP brings together a team of lawyers whose interests and expertise are ideally suited to serving the needs of charities and other not-for-profit organisations (NFPOs). The lawyers in this group meet regularly to pool knowledge and ideas with a view to providing practical legal advice of the highest quality, ranging from employment and property law issues to compliance with Charity Commission requirements. Legal work for charities and NFPOs draws on disciplines which cut across the traditional divide between commercial and private client work and for this reason our specialist team consists of lawyers from all the main departments in the firm.

Recent work undertaken by the charities group includes advising on the incorporation of new charities; advice in relation to both freehold and leasehold property issues; employment advice; the setting up and administration of charitable trusts in wills and trust deeds; advising in relation to disputes with other parties and assisting in the administration of the organisation including the provision of registered office and company secretarial services.
